Partnering with an Airport in their transformation journey

We helped a major airport innovate. We forecast waiting time at the security gates (screening) in order to decrease the number of people that miss their flights, and we also forecast how long passengers need to wait for their luggage to arrive at pick up.

Objective

To improve both the passenger experience and operational efficiency using data.

How?

By using modern Machine Learning, allowing us to capture and predict temporal trends in the flow of passengers and to derive waiting times from it.

Success criteria

The number of long waiting times that are correctly predicted have increased. The team is able to react before they happen so that no flight needs to be delayed.

Results

30% improvement in the accuracy of forecasts compared to the historical baseline used at the airport previously.
